Adults / Children 4+ / Pensioners & Veterans / Work Cover
At Hearingworks, Kew we perform full diagnostic hearing tests. These hearing tests take approximately one hour to complete.
Pensioners and Veterans are eligible for fully subsidised hearing tests.
Full hearing tests are necessary to determine the cause and severity of your hearing loss. Referral to a doctor may be necessary if, for example, there is middle ear fluid, vertigo, asymmetrical hearing loss or unilateral tinnitus.
If you have a hearing loss, hearing tests help us to design an aural rehabilitation program to help you to achieve your hearing and communication goals.

At Hearingworks, Kew we can gently and safely remove ear wax from your ear canal, using curettage and micro-suction, without the discomfort sometimes associated with syringing the ears with water. A referral from a doctor is not necessary for wax removal.
It is normal for your body to produce ear wax. Ear wax has a protective function. It assists in cleaning the ears by trapping dirt, germs, bacteria and any other foreign bodies entering the ear canal, such as insects.
Wax removal is generally only necessary if there is impacted wax in the ear canal. Sometimes we remove ear wax from the ears of hearing aid wearers as a means of preventing feedback (whistling) from the hearing aids and to stop wax from blocking the sound bore of the hearing aids.
