Nicole Gatto

Principal Audiologist / Director

Nicole GattoNicole Gatto has over 25 years’ experience as an Audiologist. She holds a Bachelor of Arts from Monash University, majoring in Psychology and Neuro-Physiology. Nicole also holds a Graduate Diploma in Audiology from the University of Melbourne. She is a full member of Audiology Australia and holds a current Certificate of Clinical Practice.

Nicole’s background includes working as an Audiologist in both the public and private sectors in NSW and Victoria. She specialises in adult aural rehabilitation, working with adults to facilitate better hearing and communication and helping to reduce the frustration and isolation caused by hearing impairment. Being the daughter of teachers, Nicole has a predisposition for training and supervising Audiology students and new graduates.

Nicole enjoys classical singing, swimming, books and films. She loves AFL and is an enthusiastic Collingwood supporter.


Tamara Parkes

Clinic Manager / Marketing Activities Co-ordinator

Tamara ParkesTamara joined the Hearingworks team at the end of 2021 and works Monday to Thursday.

She has many years’ of customer service experience ranging from managing a TattsLotto agency to hospitality, as well as running her own businesses whilst raising three children.

Tamara has excellent communication skills, a nice way of saying she never stops talking, which the clients love while they are waiting.

When she’s not managing Nicole, Tamara likes knitting, sewing, collecting shoes and going to see live bands.

She is also a beer connoisseur and an avid Essendon supporter!


Sofie Shoobridge

Book Keeper

Sofie ShoobridgeWhen Hearingworks opened in 2015 Sofie jumped at the chance to take on the role of bookkeeper, initially as a contractor and now as an employee. She has over 20 years experience in accounts, office management and bookkeeping and also runs her own small bookkeeping practice. She has a Certificate III in Accounting from Swinburne TAFE, and a Bachelor of Arts from the University of Melbourne, where she majored in linguistics and classical studies.

Sofie has worked in a variety of industries including a GP clinic, a marble importing business, kitchen renovations and IT.

In her spare time Sofie likes to spend time with her family, listen to music, read as many books as she can, and enjoys doing puzzles – especially cryptic crosswords!


Simon Messenger

Finance Director and IT Support Manager

Simon is Nicole’s husband. He was instrumental in setting up Hearingworks in 2015, including managing and labouring during the shop fit of the clinic. Simon holds Certificate IV in Building and Construction from Holmesglen TAFE.

In conjunction with Sofie, Simon manages the business finances. He also acts as the IT Support Manager for the clinic, keeping all hardware and software up-to-date. He takes an active role in managing the website and digital marketing.

Simon is a professional software tester working on a contract basis in many business domains, including superannuation, wealth management, State Government, retail and sports.

In his spare time (what’s that?) Simon enjoys amateur motorsport, going to gigs and trying new recipes. He is an active member of the Rotary Club of Glenferrie.
